Dr. J, adjunct professor of College Writing, Reading, and Research classes, grew up in Colorado and attended George Washington High School in Denver. For his undergraduate degree, he attended the University of Southern California, majoring in English and Fine Arts. He completed his Masters and Ph.D. work at the University of Colorado Boulder in English Literature, specializing in Chicano and African American literature. In addition to teaching there, was a long term administrator. In 2015, Dr. J moved to Osmangazi, Turkey to teach English for two years, returning to take the adjunct professor position with High Tech. In addition to his academic degrees, Dr. J has certificates in Teaching English as a Second Language from the University of Toronto, and in Applied Statistics and SAS Programming from Kennesaw State University in Georgia. In his spare time he enjoys oil painting, reading, playing Xbox, visiting museums, and the Denver Botanic Gardens.
